Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) presents a bold vision for ocean science—and a $700 million campaign to make it possible.
THE STORY
The ocean sustains all life on our planet. It inspires joy and wonder. It supports the lives and livelihoods of people everywhere. It holds untold secrets waiting to be discovered, and vast potential for addressing urgent problems. And it is under threat. To meet these challenges head-on, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution launched The Campaign for Our Ocean Planet to raise $700 million.
MY ROLE
I crafted the visual identity for the case statement to compel new and existing donors to join the campaign. A key element of the design was the arrow logo mark, which I activated throughout the design to symbolize forward momentum, innovation, and hope for the future of ocean science. The symbol paired with bold typography and a contemporary layout creates a sense of urgency while inspiring confidence in the campaign.









INSERTS
Inserts highlighting specific funding opportunities are housed in a pocket folder on the final page of the case statement. I extended the campaign’s visual identity through the header type treatment, bold jellyfish imagery, and the distinctive arrow logomark.

SAVE THE DATE
For the campaign launch event, I designed Save the Date collateral that included an invitation card and personalized note card, which were sent to recipients together in a custom envelope. To generate intrigue and excitement, I used a vibrant anemone photo as the primary visual and marine snow confetti to add depth. I paired this with elevated typography and a refined layout to create a celebratory tone for the launch.
