Exploring Ocean Worlds: From Earth to Space
Bridging deep-sea exploration and space discovery
THE STORY
Ocean Worlds are icy moons like Europa and Enceladus that may harbor subsurface oceans, making them promising sites in the search for extraterrestrial life. WHOI is applying its deep-sea exploration technologies to help imagine how we might study these distant oceans, drawing connections between Earth's deep sea and outer space.
MY ROLE
I designed the exhibit Exploring Ocean Worlds: From Earth to Space for WHOI’s Discovery Center on Cape Cod. The visual identity bridges Earth’s ocean and space through shared themes of wonder and discovery. The design features a cool-toned color palette, with dark blues and cyan accents, reflecting the hues of the ocean and icy moons. Layering the ocean against star fields establishes a connection between Earth and space, blending these realms both visually and conceptually.
