Swordfish Illustration
Illustrating the swordfish for WHOI’s annual giving campaign to support marine research
THE STORY
WHOI’s annual giving team offers a new shirt every year to inspire increased donor engagement and support. This fundraising initiative is key to supporting WHOI scientists and engineers as they develop new technologies and conduct groundbreaking research. This year, the team wanted to feature a swordfish on the shirt.
MY ROLE
I created an illustration of the North Atlantic Swordfish hunting for prey. One of the fastest predators in the ocean, swordfish capture prey by slashing their bill back and forth. To show their predatory prowess, I drew a swordfish splitting apart a school of fish with its bill. I wanted to create a striking composition that would both connect to WHOI’s marine research and inspire donors to deepen their commitment to WHOI.
